Acrylic Manufacturing : Cold air nozzle

Cold air nozzle

Scope of application:

The removal of chips by compressed coolant air is an economical alternative to the use of cooling lubricants. The costly purchase of a minimum spray device with cooling liquid and preparation or disposal of cooling lubricants and chips is no longer necessary. The very light chips resulting from advanced milling processes can also be safely removed in deep moulds. In most cases, the use of cooled air can significantly increase the service life of the tools used, prevent frictional overheating of the material surface and thus thermal damage or the occurrence of surface tension.

Functionality:

The mode of operation of the air flow cooler is based on the principle of the vortex tube, in which two counter-rotating, rotating air flows (without moving parts) are generated. At one end, the internal flow exits as usable cold air with up to -25° C, at the other end of the pipe the external flow exits as hot exhaust air with up to +70° C. The air flow is then discharged as hot exhaust air. Air consumption approx. 150 l /min. Volume flow and cold air proportion can be adjusted via a needle valve at the exhaust outlet. It is highly recommended to use a standard maintenance unit such as pressure reducer, filter and water separator upstream. As the pressure of the compressed air decreases, both the proportion of cold air and the volume flow rate decrease.
